ER Trip Averted!

I almost got to make my first trip to an Emergency Room today! Luckily I did not have to go this time!

I have found a new game where I run from the end of the hall way and crash into the couch at full speed - it is great fun!!

However, as a 2-year old, I don't always get my feet going to the right places. Today I tripped over my feet and fell into the leather ottoman! My face hit the foot stool and shoved my glasses into my face...they made an indentation where my nose pad sits and cut my skin just above my left eye.

Mommy first thought the cut might require my first stitches but when Daddy used a cold wash cloth on the cut and Mommy put first aid cream on it, they discovered it was a superficial cut and I don't have to get stitches.

My eye socket did swell up very fast, all the way to the size of a golf ball! It's going to be black and blue for a while...

I am looking forward to Thanksgiving this week! Grandpa, Grandma, Great-Grandma and Uncle are coming to see me and then we will go to Nana and Papa Jim's on Saturday!

I have been eating a lot for my growth spurt and to practice for all the great holiday food! It's warm right now but Mommy and Daddy say it is going to get very cold later this week!

It's time for me to go night-night!!!

Petting the Goats at the Children's Zoo at St Louis Zoo after my Eye Doctor Appointment this week! I loved the goats, the hippos, and riding the train! Can't wait to go back again soon!

No More Eye-Patching!

That is the great news we got from the eye doctor on Tuesday. Since our first visit to Dr. Tychsen in May, I had been wearing an eye patch on my left eye for two hours every day.

This was because Mommy noticed my right eye was turning in a little when she took pictures of me and she and Daddy knew that Daddy's eye had turned in the same way when he was my age.

So in May, Dr. Tychsen and his staff and other doctors figured out that I needed glasses and, to prevent and reverse vision loss, I needed to wear the eye patch over my strong eye to make my right eye regain strength so my eyes both worked together. I've been wearing the patch every day since, attached to my glasses for 2 hours every day. Mommy and Daddy say I did really well with wearing it and even had a pretty good idea when the two hours was up so my patch could come off for the day!

In our two follow-up appointments, Dr Galli, who works with Dr Tychsen, told us that my right eye was getting stronger. This week, she said my right eye had done really well and we could at least take a break from the patching! We will continue to monitor the progress with more follow-up visits but we are all very excited that there is no need for patching, at least through the holidays!!!!!

Mommy and Daddy are so thankful they were watching my eyes and took quick action to help me out! To celebrate, Mommy and Daddy got started on Christmas shopping (I got some new shoes since I am a growing boy!) and we went to the zoo yesterday!!! My favorite parts were riding the train, going nose to nose with the hippos (I LOVE hippos!) and getting to pet the goats in the children's zoo! We had so much fun together!

I still wear my glasses when I am awake, but they help me out and I don't mind them. Someday, I will go to contacts but that is a ways in the future! All of us are so happy with the good news, so I just had to share!!!

Mommy and Daddy say there might be some highlights of our zoo trip showing up soon, so come back and see what else I am into!

The President driving through!

The President drove through my town this week to tour our region. My Daddy got some neat pictures, although they are from a long ways away.

The first picture is actually last - the SWAT team truck that follows the President.

The next three pictures are of the SUVs that carried the President. Daddy thinks the front one had the President in it because of the seal on the 2nd row door.

This last picture is actually first - the law enforcement motorcycle escort that led the Presidential Motorcade.

Doors Cannot Stop Me!

Mommy and Daddy are in trouble now! I can reach door knobs and turn them to go through the door! If it is not locked, I am coming in! I even opened the door to my room at day care today, too!

I even figured out how to lock Mommy and Daddy outside on the other side of the screen door! Luckily for them, Daddy had left another door unlocked a little earlier so he went around and came in that way. They think some changes will have to be made soon :)

Speaking of day care, Mommy and Daddy found out this week that the Monday after my birthday I will be moving from the Sea horse room (1-year olds) to the Barnyard room (2-year olds) and Miss Tracey. I will miss Miss Sue but I will get to see some of my other friends again. In this room, I get to start drinking from a cup with no lid or straw and start learning to go without my diaper!!!

I am getting so big! Can anyone believe I will be 2 in less than two weeks??!!??

Last night I walked all the way up the steps in my house by myself with no help! Before then, I had been holding Mommy or Daddy's hand and putting my other hand on the wall - there are a lot of big steps! But no more!

And even better - this morning, I went down the steps all by myself too!!!

Mommy and Daddy say that is something people should be able to do between 2 and 3 years old - and I am not even 2!!!

Wanted to let everyone know how fast I am growing up! Time for me to go to school - bye-bye!

I now know all of my number 0-10. I can't say them all yet, but if you write them down, and ask me to point to them, I can point to whatever number you ask me to. Daddy tried to teach me to jump today, Mommy says it was really fun to watch! I can jump just a little bit, but then STOMP loudly to make it "sound" like a big jump. I went outside for a little while this morning. We thought about going to the park after my nap, but the wind is still a little cold to be outside very long. It is also 40% chance of rain, guess we will see how things go!

My Great Grandpa is in Israel right now, and we saw a picture of him smiling big, riding a CAMEL! We can't wait to see all the pictures that he brings back! He will be back next Friday, and will bring his pictures to Mommy for printing.

Today, we went to eat at the chinese place! Mommy has lost 18 lbs, so this was a reward because we don't eat out any more. I loved it! I was grabbing stuff off Mommy's plate. Anything that looked good, and I could choose whatever I wanted (except the seafood, Mommy said no to that due to lots of seafood allergies in the family). I found out that I love ONION RINGS! I also really liked the corn nuggets, cheese sticks, and egg rolls! The chicken was still a little hard to chew, but I tried and did a good job. Mommy and Daddy were amazed by the amount I tried. I finished up with oranges for dessert! I came home and talked Mommy into taking a nap with me, and then played most of the afternoon with Daddy while Mommy worked on other stuff. We had a really good day!

Winter Blahs

Its official. We are so tired of winter.

I can't wait for it to warm up so we can go to the park on weekends and play outside. Winter is wet, dark, and depressing. It has gone on long enough. One of Daddy's friends says we should go Groundhog hunting! It will have to wait until this Winter Storm that we are currently under is finished.

Mommy got a new camera, which she says is a huge upgrade from her other one. She also got several other new photography items, and plans to start doing senior pictures soon. Mommy says it will be a long time before I am a senior, but she will take my picture a lot just because I'm adorable.

Daddy was gone to see his folks on Saturday, but only stayed for the day, and I was happy to have him back home before bed time. Mommy and I stayed home and played with Nana and Papa Jim, and Great Mama and Papa Russ. They got me the Little People's farm, which I am now obsessed with. At least it doesn't make much noise! Mommy says I have maxed out on the number of toys I can have that are loud and obnoxious!

We have been watching the Olympics every night, which has been nice. Go USA! Ice Dancing and Ski Cross tonight.

Gotta go, its bath time. Hope the spring comes soon!

Our Favorite Books

The books I love most right now have bright pictures to match with buttons to make noise. My favorite is Baby Einstein Discover the day. I have most of the pages memorized so that I know what is hiding under each flap and hit the right buttons before the flap is even turned. I also love "Let's say our numbers". I can point to a Duck, shoe, puppy, train, flower, car, ball and bear when asked. My vocabulary is growing every day. Mommy is working with me on my numbers, and I can usually point out an 8 or 9. Every zero or "o" is a ball, as well as any circles. I'm great at matching items in pairs. Learning so much every day!

My First Haircut

I was a very good boy for my first haircut with Miss Crystal, who also cuts Mommy and Daddy's hair. I sat on Mommy's lap and Daddy took lots of pictures which they will put up very soon so everyone can see my new look!

My curls got cut, the "wings" over my ears and my bangs also got trimmed. I certainly do not look like a baby anymore!

I'm growing up so fast that it is making Mommy and Daddy's head spin. Can you believe I'm going to be TWO years old very soon?!?!? Wow!!!

Nana got me a new book with lots of buttons to push. She told me today to push the banana button, and I said "Anana" and pushed the button. I can also point to my ears and nose when asked. Learning new words every day. Unfortunately, I have also learned the word 'mine", and think that it applies to everything. Mommy is not going to thank daycare for that one.

Daddy and Mommy are both off the rest of the week starting tomorrow. We can't wait for a nice relaxing weekend! We all need the time off so badly! Looking forward to having some fantastic family time.

I have a really bad cold, and have been running a fever. I refused to take a nap today because when I lay down, I can't breathe! This is no fun!

Its been a while, but I am changing all the time. I can sing, even fairly on pitch the "ee-i-ee-i-oh" from Old Macdonald Had a Farm. I know that a Sheep says Bah, Bah, and a Cow says MOO. I can ask for Milk by name, but I can't quite get the "k" sound out. I'm eating lots of new things.

Thursday night, I destroyed Mommy's computer with a can of Diet Dr Pepper... Mommy lost everything, except the photos she had ordered from Walgreens, which could be re-downloaded. She can snag the videos back off of Youtube with a flv ripper, but the ones that she didn't publish are at this point gone. Mommy went and got a new computer, and has spent 2 days getting it all set up again, and getting everything back closer to normal. I am now banned from the dining room table. Mommy says that was a very expensive can of soda!

Daddy got a new phone last week, he finally joined the Blackberry nation! Mommy has been helping him get that set up too. Its been a busy week here.

I have a little bit of a cold, but so far it has not gone into my chest, and has stayed in my sinuses. Mommy is stuffed up too, so hopefully it is just a reaction to the changing weather patterns.

Daddy has been working on his computer too, as one of the programs he uses the most is not working.

Mommy and Daddy are in talks with Santa Claus already. They hope to be done by the end of November and I think Santa told them what to get me, so I expect Fed-Ex Reindeer to stop by soon.

What Are We Doing?

Wow...Mommy and Daddy aren't doing a very good job of keeping this thing current, are they? I guess that means I'm a handful and they're too exhausted to write after I go to bed (Daddy says - ABSOLUTELY!)

OK, so let's take some time and see what we can remember.

I am now 17 months old. I have figured out how to play Peek-A-Boo, I like to hug on the doggies, though Bailey isn't really fond of it. Cricket isn't either, but I can still catch her! I like to give kisses and I've figured out what my nose is, though I'm not always willing to show it when I'm asked. Same thing with my tummy. But my feet are another story. If you ask, I will show them to you, anytime, any place!

I know that when we come in from outside, we have to shut the door and take my shoes off. I can even stand up and hold each foot up for Mommy or Daddy to help take my shoes off.

I like to feed myself and REALLY like mandarin oranges. Mommy and Daddy are stunned because I didn't like fruit for so long when I first arrived. Now, I eat fruit all of the time! It's YUMMY!!!

I can reach onto the table in the dining room now ... when Mommy or Daddy put my milk up there, I can get it. Or anything else I want to grab! If it's near the edge, it is fair game! I'm about to get into a new size of clothes, too, so I must be growing big, tall, and strong!

It's a lot of fun for me to study how things work and figure out. I like to know what is going on when my toys move - especially when I know it's going to wiggle for me. New toys that I don't realize wiggle or that have movement that I don't have to initiate kind of make me jump.

I still go to the same daycare each day. My spot at the new one did not open up for this year, but the class sizes expand when kids get to be two years old, so Mommy and Daddy hope that next summer, I can move. It will be much more convenient for Daddy to take me to school, too, since his office has been relocated to much closer to the new daycare. That means the current daycare is kind of out of the way and takes a little longer in the mornings.

But I've been having a lot of fun at the current daycare lately too. We've been learning about letters and numbers plus we've been singing, coloring, and using glue! PLUS, (Daddy knocks on wood) I've been staying pretty healthy lately, too. We're a little nervous that the colder weather will bring more germs in, but I seem to be doing pretty good.

I haven't been to daycare at all this week since Mommy and Daddy have been on vacation from work. They went shopping a couple of days during the week and my great-grandma came to stay with me for one day and great-grandma and great-grandpa came another day. Mommy and Daddy ended up finding the toy for me they were looking for on the Internet and it should be here about the time Mommy has a birthday.

Oh yeah, Mommy has a birthday next week! Daddy and I have a surprise for her that we hope works out, plus she has ordered a new motorcycle helmet for herself which is part of the present.

Speaking of the motorcycle, Mommy has been riding it to work almost every day since she and Daddy went to a safety class in late August. They spent a lot of time on motorcycles and Mommy feels so much more comfortable. She's really happy on her bike and I'm looking forward to the day when I'm old enough to ride with her, but I think I'm going to stick to my wagon for now...I like taking rides in that and running in the grass, too!

We hope to see all of you that we haven't seen in a while very soon - hope this is a good update on what we are doing and I will do everything I can to get Mommy and Daddy into more of a routine in keeping you all up to date on what exciting new things I am discovering, as well as plenty of pictures!

High Fever, feel awful. I slept with Mommy last night. Started on the couch, but that was uncomfortable, and I kept waking up. So, We ended up on the Bean Bag chair all night. Only slept a couple hours. Going to the Dr. today.

Mommy and Nana will be home with me tomorrow! So, if its nice, we are going to go take pictures in the park. Mommy gets an oil change tomorrow too, so it will be a full day!

I had my check up with the Dermatologist today. A different steroid started tonight, will do that for two weeks and hopefully it will help my eczema more, the old cream is just not strong enough. No more fabric softener is allowed anywhere near me. No perfumes, detergents with scent, no nothing. Not even for anyone holding me for more than a minute or two, so that means that Daddy has to get rid of his fabric softener too! (Mommy stopped using it on her laundry a while ago). Also, no dryer sheets! Different lotion, special sunblock, but hopefully it will all help. This is no fun!

Mommy's Blackberry

Mommy got a BlackBerry, because she has wanted one for years, and finally when her cell phone quit she decided it was time. It has a camera with it, so I have had lots of pictures snapped of me lately, and Mommy can email them right from her phone. The problem is that Mommy doesn't have many email addresses in her phone yet. Soon, she will teach me how to use it, so that I can blog from my Mommy's new phone.

Yesterday was my Nana's birthday, and we BBQ'd. It was fun, and we spent a lot of time out on the deck. We went to walmart and helped Nana pick out an iPod, and she got a pretty teal nano. Very fun!

10 teeth now, and I can run fairly well. I'm doing pretty well in my new class at school, and I am almost done with bottles. 2-3 a day is all I am taking now, and the rest is out of my sippy cup. I am also getting much better at feeding myself. I tried Corned Beef Hash yesterday and thought that was pretty good, and I was able to chew the potato cubes without much trouble. I really like gold fish crackers, and yogurt melts. Its a constant state of motion around the house these days.

Mommy is putting safety locks on the kitchen cabinets today because yesterday I figured out that cabinets open! Its sunday, so Daddy is doing laundry, and I am busy getting in to everything. Lots of new things to experience!

I'm a little less fussy... but I am working on tooth #10! Drooling buckets.

Eating better, and I am weening myself off bottles. I'm rocking on my sippy cup! And I hold it like a pro, and walk around with it and drink whenever I want. Definitely growing up.

I've been in the 1yr classroom this week, its going to be a big adjustment. No bottles??? I've never heard of such a thing. But, I'm doing pretty good with a sippy cup at home, so it may be ok. I also have to feed myself. This means I am not getting the food I am used to, and have to use my fingers for whatever is on the Menu at school. Lots of changes. But, I will make it.

What a long weekend! (and too short too)

Our washing machine has been forgetting to drain itself for quite a while now. Its very frustrating. Then, the fan in Mommy and Daddy's room broke. GREAT!?!

So, we went to look for a new fan this weekend, and I walked all over Lowe's because I am a big boy now. While looking for a fan, somehow we bought a new washer and dryer. Mommy says they both spin, so it at least does the same sort of thing. But, these work a little different than what we are used to, and now, one of my socks is lost in the land of lost socks. I hope it finds friends there!

Next weekend, there is a big festival in town, so we are looking forward to that. No one wants to go to work tomorrow! Today was food making day for me, so lots of yummy stuff is freezing in the deep freeze right now.

I had Spaghetti and pineapple for the first time tonight. I am not sure what I think about Tomato Sauce... I apparently made some really awful faces. The pineapple was good though.

Mommy got a bigger memory card for her camera, so now she can take more pictures of me without downloading, which is really good! They ran out of room at the park last weekend and missed Nana climbing up the climbing wall with Uncle D in hot pursuit! But, Mommy did get it on video!

Oh, I now have NINE teeth. The front four on top and bottom, AND my first molar on the right hand side. They are just coming in all at once!!

We said Momma for the first time tonight. I don't know what it means, but Mommy was excited!

A Two Mile Wagon Ride

Today was nice. Not too hot, or humid. The three of us went on a walk. I love my new wagon. We went about two miles, but then I started to get tired, so we cut it off there.

Something else new today... I walked across the front room, Mommy and Daddy's bedroom all my myself. I am feeling much more confident in my walking ability. I am also getting good at climbing stairs!

I'm growing up too fast.

These were taken yesterday by my Daddy, who has stayed home with me for two days. I've got bronchitis again, and an early ear infection. I was playing in the front room, and got quiet. Daddy looked up, and I was asleep! Guess I slept for about an hour this way.

I went to the Dr today, which is not a fun thing to do on a Birthday!
